Appropriations and Taxes
Utah is growing, which means state and local budgets are increasing as well. The need for smart, experienced lobbying for securing appropriations, tax cuts, revenue increases, as well as tax increment and other public financing options has never been greater. RRJ has been front and center—securing all of these for its clients—for years.
From highway projects, education initiatives and business incentives, we have not only successfully secured appropriations for our clients, but we have also helped spearhead tax revenue increases for transportation, economic development, and education.
RRJ has also secured sales and property tax reductions for many clients and even been instrumental in defeating increases in some of Utah’s “boutique” sales taxes.
On the local level, RRJ has helped establish property and sales tax increment districts as well as other public financing options for a number of economic development and real estate projects throughout the State. Very few, if any, lobbyists have the experience that we do when it comes to tax increment funded projects.
Local Government Lobbying
Local government lobbying requires on-the-ground, face-to-face contact with local elected and appointed officials. At the core of our successful local lobbying practice is our unmatched experience in creating excellent working relationships with these officials.
With part-time local elected officials relying heavily on full-time staff, to be truly effective, much of our contacts and lobbying is done at the staff level. RRJ has developed relationships with staff at the administrative and department level as well as with locally elected commissioners, mayors, and councilmembers throughout Utah.
