Highlights of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

Chris and I attended the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas at the invitation of the Consumer Technology Association. CES is the largest trade show in the world and is known for its innovation in consumer technologies. Each year, it is more impressive and massive. One of my favorite exhibits this year showcased robots, including a robot you could dance with and a robot that mows lawns.

Self-driving vehicles were everywhere at CES and I enjoyed several demonstrations with autonomous vehicles. This technology was not only limited to cars, but infrastructure as well. This industry is moving fast and coming to our cities soon.

Another innovation in transportation is the Hyperloop One. The Hyperloop One is an answer to public transit that travels at a speed of 670 miles per hour. I imagined a trip from Salt Lake City to St. George in 30 minutes!

We toured Eureka Park, another venue for CES. It was amazing to see hundreds of startup companies with thousands of ideas that make our lives easier; from smart homes, innovation in business, travel, and city planning. I saw a parking meter that would follow weather patterns. The meter would alert the city if snow removal was required.

The future is definitely here and it’s exciting!
