Economic Development in the Tech Industry
The last decade has brought tremendous economic growth to the state of Utah, particularly in the technology industry. Currently, there are reportedly 4,000 unfilled tech jobs in the state of Utah, so Governor Gary Herbert announced a new program for Utah high schools that concentrates on computer science and coding. The IT Pathways Program provides early training for an educated workforce in the rapidly accelerating technology industry and will prepare Utah residents to acquire these jobs in the tech industry.
At the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit in Salt Lake City, approximately 14,000 participants gathered at the Salt Palace to discuss the future of the tech industry. It is recognized globally as an event that attracts the brightest tech minds and innovators. Senator Jacob Anderegg is sponsoring a bill that will focus on incentivizing corporations to participate in and grow the event from the 14,000 participants to nearly 80,000 in the next five years. This will bring greater economic development for Utah and be a powerful recruiting tool in the tech industry for the state.
Our client Adobe, innovative software company, revealed its expansion for a larger facility in Lehi, creating jobs for 1,200 employees. Adobe initiated the staggering development to the Point of the Mountain area, bringing important growth to the state of Utah. This growth and development includes transit, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels; all bringing jobs to the region and ultimately improving the state of Utah.
